Hasler mystified by Titans' outsider status

Also spotted in MX was an article about the Sea Eagles - Titans game. I'll take it from here, MX...

Des (pronounced 'Desce') Hasler is mystified by Gold Coast's outsider status as a premiership threat. "I don't see why people are writing them off, saying they don't have what it takes to make a grand final, let alone win the comp, that they're a boring, uninspiring, one dimensional team whose top gear is second."

Des immediately after Manly's grand final win

"I really couldn't tell you why some people say that they're essentially a joke in the eyes of the fans, the media but most importantly, the players and coaches. I just don't get it. We'll be treating them with the respect they deserve on Saturday night."

  1. Desce is clearly annoyed that the Titans have effortlessly achieved exactly what he has been striving so hard to accomplish at Manly - staying under the radar.

The Titans are better than many give them credit for. On the other hand, they are not as good as some others give them credit for. When averaged out, this means they are well-balanced and mediocre in every way.

It's true they have won a large number of very close games this year. They have been the benficiaries of some good fortune on more than one occasion. More than two occasions. Actually , a lot more . . . and that is the exact quality every coach desires in his team! So they might just be this year's premiers after all. Could Desce be omniscient?

  2. Obviously Desce is omniscient, how else do you explain the vacant stare?

I'm more concerned that the Titans have bottomed out too soon. Timing your poor form is everything in this comp. Htime
