ABC Sport reports that a high shot has cost Michael Ennis a week. In other news, four Michael Ennis wide shots cost the Bulldogs a week.
The same report mentions that "Warriors back James Maloney and Gold Coast reserve prop Bodene Thompson". League Blog is all for teams backing their own players, but why New Zealand would want to back a Titans player is beyond us. It is possible to interpret the above statement another way though: the Titans are reserving Thompson, possibly for use at a later date. Thompson, who born was around the same time the movie Point Break came out, has no known interest in robbing banks in between surfing, playing beach gridiron and rescuing Keanu Reeves from Anthony Kiedis.

Can league blog confirm or deny rumours that rugby league clubs have spent the off-season working on a new tackling technique - based on pulling down another player's league shorts to effect a tackle? Does league blog have a name for this move before the News Ltd papers cotton onto the phenomenon?
ReplyDeleteHappened at least 6 times in the Eels v Dragons game, not counting Hindmarsh displaying the old warhorse's wares for 40-odd tackles and a dozen hit ups.
Rescuing Keanu from Anthony Kiedis may be feasible. If it was Anthony Watmough there would be no chance of escape.
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous - I once had a friend with that name, are you that friend? Surname Bosch?
As for the tackle technique of pulling down the shorts, that is known as a rudie. If the shorts are pulled up, it is a wedgie.
LB has been coincidentally looking away every time a league player's been dakked. SER8, I have a message for you: rudie isn't what those tackles are called.
